Landscape photo of office buildings at the Hawthorn Leslie shipyard, Hebburn.
(Image from May 1979)
- Notes about the Image:
-
'Shipbuilding seemed to be coming to an end in the North East by the late 1970s, and soon after that period very few shipbuilding structures of any kind could be found along the river banks. The rapidly changed nature of those areas has left hardly any historic remnants of the industry. These shipyard offices survived for a while, and may still do so, but if so, they are an exception.'
