Mr Wilson's Memoirs

The following excerpts have been reproduced with kind permission from Joan Hellawell and are taken from her original transcript of oral history interviews conducted with Mr Fred Wilson. The transcript was produced in May 2000 and the interviews with Mr Wilson took place in June 1997 and 1999.

Mr Wilson was born on November 5th, 1904 and resided at Guyzance Mill in Northumberland for many years. His anecdotes recall aspects of rural life both at the mill and in the surrounding area as well as memories of wartime Newcastle.
