Browse by individual

Browsing by individual will result in a search of any images in the SINE collection that are related to a certain person, whether they were involved in the creation of the image or related to the structures within an image. There are two ways to browse the collection by individual, selecting the name of an individual from the menu or typing the name you wish to search for:

Selecting the name of an individual from the menu

Names are listed alphabetically by surname or title – if you were looking for ‘King Richard II’ you would look under K, but you could perform the same search by looking at ‘Plantagenet, Richard’ – his family name. If the surname or first name of an individual is not known, a ? is shown.

Typing the name you wish to search for

Typing the name you wish to search for into the box below, and click ‘Find People’. You can search on a single word, or a full name (surname first).

e.g. if you were looking for images related to John Dobson, typing ‘dobson john’ would give you this result:

If you searched for a single term, e.g. ‘Richard’, the search result would be all individuals containing ‘richard’ – Bishop Richard le Poor; Richardson, T M; Grainger, Richard etc…

Clicking on the name of an individual will search the SINE collection for images related to that person. Clicking the button will bring up more information about the individual.
